Alexander Girard at SFMOMA!

2006_10_16_girard_matchbook.jpgThere's no better time than color month to admire the vintage excellence of Herman Miller's ground-breaking textile design director, Alexander Girard.

Many of Girard's folk-inspired, colorful upholstery textiles from the post-war period through the sixties will seem familiar because they've been re-issued by Herman Miller in recent years and are being used by companies like Maximo and DWR to hip up upholstered furniture and pillows.

Girard's playful aesthetic is on display for the color and design delver in you, now through February 25th at SF MOMA's Alexander Girard: Vibrant Modern.

Actually Kate Spade has legal rights to those designs for that set of bags, and gives Girard full credit for the design in a short bio on their tags. So, enjoy the bag with no worries about a rip off! www.maximodesign.com
